Problem types

Errors use application/problem+json (RFC 9457). The type field links to the entries below.

invalid-request 400 Invalid request: Query or body failed schema validation. See the errors array; unknown parameters are rejected.
unauthorized 401 Authentication required: A write requires a valid, unexpired guest session token.
forbidden 403 Forbidden: The token lacks the scope for this operation, or policy denies it.
not-found 404 Not found: The resource does not exist or is not public. Private submissions are indistinguishable from missing ones.
method-not-allowed 405 Method not allowed: The HTTP method is not supported on this path.
conflict 409 Conflict: Idempotency-Key reused with a different request body, or a version conflict.
gone 410 Gone: The resource was withdrawn or removed; only a tombstone remains.
payload-too-large 413 Payload too large: The request body exceeds the documented limit.
unsupported-media-type 415 Unsupported media type: Send application/json.
unprocessable-content 422 Unprocessable content: Semantically invalid content, e.g. personal data or disallowed links.
rate-limited 429 Rate limit exceeded: Too many requests. Wait for the number of seconds in Retry-After.
internal-error 500 Internal error: Unexpected failure. Quote request_id when reporting.
write-disabled 503 Writes are currently disabled: Writes are switched off (read-only release or kill switch).
service-unavailable 503 Service unavailable: A dependency is unavailable. Retry later.
